The development of enterprise application and the business service pays more and more attention to the rapid reaction and the multiplicity of operation interface in client side. The traditional electric operating-sheet system based on C/S or B/S model can not satisfy for request of application. The traditional thin client although uses the rich network resources conveniently, but the response is very low. Fat client has rich interface which is easy to operate, but its deployment and update is very complex. So using new technology to improve the system has become a key problem needs to be solved. Smart clients give users access to information and remote services within a powerful and intuitive client environment, and are an effective solution for flexible user-oriented applications and for increasing user productivity and satisfaction. Smart client applications can be designed to combine the benefits of a fat client with the benefits of a thin client and discard their disadvantages. The smart client can provide users with a rich and responsive user interface and a way to take advantage of local hardware and software resources.In this paper, the advanced smart client technology is discussed, it is applied to the electric operating-sheet system. At first smart client is compared to fat client and thin client and the advantages of smart client are gotten.The second,the pivotal technologies including .NET Framework, Web Service å'Œ ADO.NET which smart client is based on are discussed.The design for the architecture of the offline application scene is importantly illustrated and it includes the connect detecting, caching and synchronization of data.In the end,using the smart client realizes the deploying the client of the system and getting the design scheme of every module and realizing the module of writing the electric operating-sheet.The electric operating-sheet system is base on smart client architecture,and visits the web service to realizes its operation. Using smart client can realize the rapid reaction of the application in the client,make the deployment and updating of the system easily and advance the maintainability and the extensibility of the system.
