Mass customization is a new production model which has got extensive attention. It can not only make production meet customization, but also reduce cost of production and delivery days. So market competition has been improved. The key of mass customization are configuration design and variant design, the amalgamation of which depends on the development of mass customization. So the research of rapid configuration and variant design has important significance.On the basis of analyzing principle of mass customization, we deeply research its principium, method and of configuration and variant design. Combined with modularization design, this dissertation develops a rapid design system, faced on mass customization products. This system not only possess products configuration design ,which starts from zero, but also can find case, similar to custom's request, based on case reason, through corporation's product case-base. Then through variant design, we make it meet custom's request. This method can increase production's reusability.Recently, our country's auto—electronic products can not meet the ever increasing customize request. According to the auto—electronic products'feature and division method of production's function module, it is divided to eight function module. Moreover, we further study the concept, function and operation of SmarTeam( software about management of production's data ). According to the rapid configuration and variant design system, we develop SmarTeam platform—based system. This system validates correctness of production's rapid configuration and variant design system.The realization of auto—electronic products'rapid configuration and variant design system, faced to mass customization, greatly shortens development cycle, improves its design quality and speed, reduces the cost, enhance market competitiveness.
