Voting Via Phone Messages And "the Narrative System" Of Talent Show

Since the launching of "Super Girls" in 2005, Chinese talent show programs have experienced several booming years. Differ from traditional TV programs; the talent show lets the audience decide the result of talent competitions - the winners. The audience could use the means of "voting via phone messages" to select those competitors they support in the shows.The above principle has changed the audience's traditional role as pure viewers of TV shows.In respect of recent narratology, they have improved from "audience" to "narrator", and participated in the processing of those talent shows; On the other hand, the production system of talent shows has managed to take advantage of their "expectation as viewers" to make a sequence of polish-ups to the shows, to distort the academicals evaluation standard of TV competitions, and eventually developed a particular narrator system of "serial opera" style for the talent shows.This paper will analyze this particular development of this narrative system, while analyzing this system's unsolvable problems under the power of social element, media and culture, and the progress of opening-up under the pressure of problems/inner dilemmas. As conclusion, this paper considers an open system of the talent shows which transcends the fixed narrative frame and the one-way narrative style of "phone message voting", is an excellent embodiment of the audience's active participation, acceptation and viewing attitude.
