With the development of broadband and internet multimedia technologies, IPTV technology is becoming more and more mature. IPTV based on streaming has a bright perspective because of high quality and realtime features. Traditional IPTV service are built upon standard Client/Server structure, which is substantially affected by the server's processing capability and bandwidth limit and are likely to get overloaded and meet a bottleneck very soon. The emergence of P2P technologies changes the server-centric way of data transfer, and make every computer equivalent nodes in the network, providing service for other nodes in the network while enjoying the services that other nodes provide. IPTV based on P2P technologies solved the problem of traditional IPTV service, and greatly boosts the application and development of IPTV systems. This paper researches on critical technologies and protocols related to IPTV, and effectively combines the power of traditional Content Distribution Network and P2P technologies, which produces an network overlay on top of TCP/IP and a IPTV system that is ready for deployment and operation.
