Public health emergency occur every year. With this problem becoming more and more obvious, the public pays much attention to such information. Public health emergencies are not individual accidental phenomenon. Because of the differences of the social environment, the affected area and the extent of seriousness, a part of public health emergencies come into our vision, but more escape from our attention. In 2003, the SARS pushed the report of public health emergency to a very emergent point. The SARS brings the society huge influence. And also, it leads to the thinking and exploration of the area of news academics. In the media reports of public health emergency, the government is the source of information, and it plays a leading role. The media is a platform for the dissemination of information of government, and its position is under the domination. Nevertheless, it still can play a very significant role. But in the SARS crisis the media's reports experienced from "keep silence" to "lose truth", and then to "overstatement", which fully exposed many existing problems in media reports of public health emergency. After "SARS", although the government sets a related policy to public health emergency, and amends and complements the dissemination of information, and also, gives the media much more space to report, public health emergency which occurred after the "SARS", such as the "Big Head Children" in Fuyang, Anhui province, "water pollution in Harbin" and the recent incident—Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease in Fuyang, and so on, are reported slowly, passively and even are not reported by the media. And then lose the opportunity—"to strangle the crisis in the embryonic stage". Therefore, to analyze public health emergency of China is an urgent thing, and also has important practical significance. This thesis uses the literature research to sort out the history of the media report of public health emergency of China; uses the empirical research to analyze the existing problems of the media report of public health emergency of China; and makes use of the theory of diffusion, public relations, media ecology and health diffusion, and so on, to analyze the deep-seated reasons of the problems, and then gives some related strategies in the hope that provide some useful reference to the media report of public health emergency of China in theory and practice, and so on.
