With the development of network technology, remote monitoring system has been more and more applied in the industrial process, the people's livelihood and experimental teaching. Making all of the equipments around the world link into the Internet has become a consensus. Especially in the area of experimental teaching, the demand for teaching laboratory equipments and scientific instruments is increasing continuously with the expansion in university in recent years, which will do lead to the contradiction between the laboratory resources and the ever-increasing number of students. Therefore, establishing remote monitoring experiment platform based on network can break the constraint of experiment teaching on time & space, and solve the contradiction well.The whole system is based on Ethernet framework. Ethernet switching technology, full-duplex technology and load limits strategies are used to improve the real-time quality of network. In order to enable the laboratory equipments with serial ports linking to Ethernet, the local equipments can being monitored & operated by remote PC, a embedded networking module is designed in this paper. On the hardware, TI's MSP430 MCU and CIRRUS's Ethernet control chip CS8900A are used as the control core of embedded networking module. The chief controller module, Ethernet controller module, serial communication module, power and reset module are designed. According to modular design idea, the whole software is divided into four function parts: initialization module, data receiving and processing module, data sending and processing module and embedded TCP/IP module. Specially, the simple TCP/IP protocol stack is analyzed and realized. The process control system experimental device is mated with special configuration software, so the configuration software is used directly to remote monitoring and experiment, which is just improved simply by using virtual serial port. The method has good effect on improving the stability and reliability of the system.It not only can solve the contradiction between the increasing number of students and few laboratory equipments on experiment teaching that constructing Ethernet based remote real-time control and multi-point process, but also can be applied to industrial process for monitoring and controlling the local equipments. Especially it has better application in the worse environment of industry.
