Along with the development of the society, market economy is improving gradually; more and more things have been entrusted with the concept of competitive power. The competitiveness is the ability to compete, the competition exists wherever the market exists, we must have certain understanding and acknowledge of the competitiveness both ourselves'and the competitor's. The competitiveness of the academic journal is the influence power and ability to attract, possess, and control readers, authors and market to achieve sustainable survival and development in competition, which can be measured by multiple indicators. In the face of the market economy impact, the agriculture academic journal is also on the way to the journal economy. Faced with good domestic macroeconomic environment, market development environment and fierce competition of the journals both at home and abroad, the academic and economic value of competitiveness research of China's academic journal can be presented in five aspects: to create environment of technology innovation, to establish the mechanism of survival of the best journal, to provide theoretical basis of the development of editorial work, to support the better qualified journal, good to the library and intelligence file collections.Using the combination of qualitative and quantitative methods, this article did research in the competitiveness of our agriculture academic journal. First, it used the SWOT method to analyze the superiority(S), weakness (W), opportunity (O), and threat (T) of macroscopic environment and self-operation of China's agriculture academic journal. We establish the competitiveness evaluation indicator system according to the layer analyze method; also did scientific validation of the founding basis and results of the indicator system; on the base of the academic journal competitiveness indicator system, choosing 37 representative academic journals, we did practical application and certification of the indicator system by Benchmarking method, That is, quantitative specific analysis to the competitiveness of China's agriculture academic journals. In the entire analysis process, we used the literature research, data collection and counting, survey design and statistics, expert advice, and other research methods to the application of the theory and collection of the data grounds.Through the SWOT and benchmarking analysis of our agriculture academic journal, we gain deeper understanding of the competitive power of the agriculture journals of our country.Weaknesses are more than the strongnesses,and the differenceis obvious,the opportunities and threatens that China's agriculture academic journals face are the same,and they impact each other, established a more clear competitive position for our agriculture academic journal. According to the evaluation indicator system, we weighed the competitive power index value; the statistic showed that the overall competitiveness level of our agriculture academic journal is not high.The academic competitiveness of selected journals is in Significant gaps, and there are also more problems on editing competitiveness, publishing competitiveness and business competitiveness, our agriculture academic journals have no clear competitive advantage. According to analyzing the four competitiveness, found out the key problems of our agriculture academic journal, analysed the potential link between growth and decline in the indicators , and verificated the competitiveness evaluation indicator system.In the end, though the research, this article brought forward the development strategies of our agriculture academic journals, which are quality strategy, internationalization strategy, group strategy, and network strategy.
