Embedded system is one of the top hot concept, and also another hot spot in the development of to day's electronical technology. Because it has prominent characters: the small volume, the strong performance, the low power consumption, the highly reliability and facing to industry application, and it has been widely applied in many fields, such as military affairs, consuming electron, internet communication and industrial control. Embedded system has entered into the SOC stage in hardware.Nowadays, embedded system designs based on SOC technology are primarily two methods: SOC based on ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit), and SOPC (System On a Programmable Chip) based on Programmable Logic Chip SOPC is a flexible,effective SOC design methodology, which integrates processor, memory, I/Os and other peripherals into a PLD. NiosII is a soft core microprocessor, which can be used to build a SOPC design. The SOPC design environment is SOPC Builder, which is integrated in the EDA tool Quartus II. What this paper introduce is the design of numerical control intelligent hand hold unit based on NiosII soft core processor, compare with traditional numerical control hand hold unit,it can be used to facilitate NC operation, and improves reliability of NC process.This article's name is the design and implementation of the axis movement control unit in embedded system based on NiosII soft-core processor . First of all, the history, status quo and prospects of embedded technology and SOPC technology are introduced. Second, this article explains the knowledge of the NC and the servo-driven system of NC system and the application of the absolute value encoder in axis control system. And in-depth analysis is conducted in the NiosII architecture, in addition, the Avalon bus interface unique in NiosII is anatomizeed in this part. Otherwise, this article explains the developing steps of NiosII in detailed by the example of experiment. Finally, the paper describes the Design and implementation of the axis movement control unit which can receive absolute value encoding.
