The well developed media of modern society create a information environment which is a reappearance of the real environment in the mirror and a kind of reconstruction of the reality by media. What kind of information environment do the media in our county create? This is important. This thesis starts with the opening-up policy, a big issue closely related with China's fate to explode how media reflect real environment in the hope of make clear the ability and characteristic of our country's media when creating environment with People's Daily as a sample. The sample of this thesis is People's Daily. Its reports on the two conferences from 1978 to 2007 are studied to show the information environment molding of media and the relation between this information environment and the real one. This is the purpose and value of the thesis. Content analysis is taken and the combination of qualitative and quantitative methods in its study process is one of the characteristics of this thesis. By classification, statistics and other empirical methods, the general content of the reports on the two conferences and its topic variation year by year are show clearly by data; and a further study on related documentations and dialectical analysis will make it easy to find the relations between People's Daily's reports on the two conferences and the real course of the reform an opening-up. The thesis conducts the 30-year reports at all levels. It falls into three parts. The first part is about the mirror-image relation between the information environment and the real one; the second part is a comprehensive analysis about the reports, i.e. a detailed study on what the mirror image is like molded the reports; the third part was an analysis on economy, politics, democracy and legal system to explode the reflection of the three aspects in media. Through the antithesis of the reports on the two conferences and the real process of the reform and opening-up policy, the thesis makes two issues clear. One is the mirror-image relation between the reform and opening-up policy and the information environment molded by the reports of the two conferences; the other is to what an extent the information environment can reflect the process of the reform and opening-up policy through a systematic and cubic dissection of this mirror image.
