With the rapid development of Internet networks, IP network is changing from conveying the simply data to operating more dynamic and flexible resource utilization, from providing best effort service to offering integrated or Quality of Service ( QoS) promise services. MPLS is a technology of providing traffic engineering on the coexistence of ATM and pure IP networks, which has its unique advantages on supporting QoS and TE(Traffic Engineering) and networks expansibility.Admission control is an important method to solve the QoS problem and has positive effect on flow control, enhancing utilization, improving the network performance and assuring QoS. However, serious unfairness occurs among connections with different QoS requirements, that is, large-bandwidth connections are hardly admitted. A good admission control should achieve not only high utilization but also good fairness.According to the design of admission control in paper [1], this paper develops a admission control Algorithm based on fairness, considering the fairness rule as the main goal. The algorithm gives attention to both large-bandwidth connections and small-bandwidth connections; it can achieve a higher utilization and fairness.At first, the paper gives a introduce to the related technology in traffic engineering and MPLS, and then, summarizes admission control in present, at last, based on paper [1], brings forward a admission control, the algorithm has been implemented in Networks Simulater2(NS-2), the simulation results indicate that the algorithm achieve high utilization and fairness.
