On the base of thorough comprehension of Nios II core and video moitoring system, network video monitoring system based on field programmable gate array is presented in this thesis to implement the real time acquisition and transmission of video signals.After analyzing the requirements of the project, the subfuction circuits are argued, and finally the general plan of module is set down. It is comprised of video data acquisition circuit, processor circuit, storage circuit and Ethernet transmission circuit. To fulfill the functional requirement of the system, Cyclone FPGA is taken as the control center, used Altera's Quartus II and Nios II IDE to be the development tool and built the hardware development platform based on SOPC technic. TCP/IP protocol is used to implement data transmission. The relative circuit and application of some key devices are described in details during design, also with some functional modules and circuit implementations.Campared with traditional monitoring system,the design is built a kind of flexible 32-bit embedded hardware system based on SOPC technic,combined the CPU and other controller to one IC by configuration,so the whole capability and integration level is improved, the componets on the system can be added or reduced freely by users. Through embedded operation systemμClinux as software platform acquisition and transmission of the data picture on Internet become more reliable.Through the research of the thesis, with programmable logic device to be the core and network to be the transmission media, the design scheme of the video monitoring system is presented. The hardware's design is mainly done in the thesis. The principle and function of the system is deeply explained, so is the important technology and specific method.
