Study On The Semantic Of SCORM Based On Knowledge Organization & Retrieval

As an international education technology specification, SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model), for the advantage of its design conception and adoptive absorption from other related specifications, has gained more and more attention from industry and academic field. With the increase of SCORM conformable learning resource, how to organize and retrieval these resources effectively and user-friendly will have been settled urgently. This thesis, taking knowledge organization and retrieval theory and technology as a base, puts forward an Ontology-based scheme of SCORM semantic.The 1st Chapter introduces the purpose and sense of this thesis, the current status of SCORM-related research, the key points, the main research methods and key innovations of this research.The 2nd Chapter discusses the SCORM specification in detail ,gives the effect and demerits of its meta-data standard—LOM (Learning Object Metadata), then the necessity, the reference, and the availability of the SCORM semantic are put forward.The 3rd Chapter summarizes the theory and technology of knowledge organization and retrieval, emphasizes the advantage of Ontology-based knowledge organization and retrieval, and evaluates the current research and experimental system of ontology-based knowledge organization and retrieval. At last, this chapter points out that Ontology is effective scheme for SCORM semantic.The 4th Chapter designs and implements an Ontology-based SCORM resource organization and retrieval system:OntoSCORM. The first section introduces the functions, development tools and the total skeleton of this system; the second section discusses the detailed design and implementation of main four modules; the last section analyzes the evaluation method and evaluation result of this system, the conclusion of system evaluation proves the effectiveness of ontology-based SCORM semantic scheme.The last Chapter firstly gives four-aspect conclusions of this thesis, summarizes the limitation of ontology-based scheme and direct for further research and development. At last, taking the KIM project for example, author puts forward to the perspective of Semantic Web engineering.
