Research And Application Of Ontology-based Semantic Web Technology

Web is enormous and growing at a staggering rate, the information lacks a uniform semantic description, so it is increasingly difficult to find, organize, access and maintain the information required by users. Ontology-based Semantic Web technology proposed by W3C indicates a way to solve this problem. Web applications can represent and understand the information by obtaining the semantic of the words, even though infer from the information based on some roles.This paper begins with a brief introduction of Semantic Web fundamentals, followed by the research of the RDF/RDFS and ontology layer which both defined in the Semantic Web architecture. On the base of the presentation of ontology, a method of ontology-based semantic modeling is given with emphasis on ontology building by using OWL. At last a model of ontology-based semantic portal is presented to make it easy for users to access the right information which they want.The research of this paper could be helpful to promote the development of ontology modeling and information search.
