Since the modern times, the mainstream of China journalism has been "the literati to publish a newspaper"and"the statesman to publish a newspaper". However, the running newspaper activities of some industrialists such as Zhang Jian,Du Chongyuan,Aw Boon Haw,Chen Jiageng,Li Guangqian also had pretty successful cases and even bought some significant impacts. The industrialists took market as the center to manage the press with their unique ideas and patterns.To study the practice and thoughts of these industrialists on running newspaper could provide some references for the management and development of the media under the market economy, Especially to the market-oriented newspaper, and intends to quest for the management experience and rules with China characteristics.This article selects Aw Boon Haw as a case study, which intends to achieve the research goal of "learning from history" through listing his practice systematically and summarizing the industrialist's thoughts on running newspaper. It is divided into four parts: Chapter One: To introduce Aw Boon Haw's industrial background and the development process of Galaxy Press; Chapter Two: Through both the running motivation and the success reasons to describe why Aw Boon Haw got involved in the newspaper industry; Chapter Three: With a industrialist's foresight and strategy, Aw Boon Haw managed his newspapering by controlling the management power and implementing the enterprise management; Chapter Four: Aw Boon Haw paid great attention to the social responsibility of the newspaper. Advanced with their times, his ideas provided some reference experience for our current news industry reforms.
