Machine tool fixture is very important equipment in process machine manufacturing process because it influences the production quality, efficiency and cost directly. Thus, the efficiency and quality of machine tool fixture design plays a more and more important role in improving product quality and shortening its time coming into market. Meanwhile, manufacturing corporations have accumulated abundant fixture design experiences in practice, and an available and effective method is needed urgently to be established by using the valuable knowledge in order to improve machine tool fixture designing level. In order to satisfy this requirement, machine tool fixture virtual assembly design theory and system development methods, based on CAD software: Pro/E, are studied. This dissertation studies deeply the theory and key techniques of machine tool fixture element automatic modeling based on Pro/E. Based on this, machine tool fixture component automatic modeling method is developed, which is depended on assembly restriction equations. Machine tool fixture element and component information model is proposed. Thus, machine tool fixture element and component library is carried out, which orients machine tool fixture rapid design is extensible. Machine tool fixture object assembly model is established, machine tool fixture design theory and realization based on typical instance is proposed. Machine tool fixture searching model, instance organization model, instance modification and reasoning mechanism and instance storage tactics are studied in detail. Computer aided machine tool fixture rapid design system (CAMFRDS) based on Pro/E is developed, and a case study is presented.
