A shoe last is the base of the shoe design and manufacturing. The geometrical shape of a shoe last is a spatial complex surface body, and the design quality of shoe last affects the quality of finished shoes directly. To realize shoe last CAD and to introduce shoe last model parametrization has the important theoretic significance and the practical value.Three aspects were mainly discussed in this paper: (1) The elementary theory, method and correlation theories foundation are studied in the needs of shoe last curved surface reconstruction, (2) Based on the theory, shoe last model is established with three dimensional modelling software Pro/E, (3) With the development packages in Pro/E and C++, the shoe last was parametrized.First, the reverse-engineering principle and the method, the data extraction and data processing was discussed in this paper. Then, the curves and surfaces theory of the geometry modelling and the complex surface modeling function in Pro/E were introduced. The shoe last model was reconstructed according to the CT images. The object-oriented technology, the parametrization design method and the theories and the method of secondary development in Pro/E was also introduced. Finally, adopting the advanced programming language VC++6.0, using the DLL connection technology, and applying development package Pro/Toolkit in Pro/E, it is realized to parametrize the shoe last model and to design the user interface.
