With the popularization of the digital equipment, a lot of standards of digital transmission interfaces have been invented, for example, USB, IEEE1394 and so on. However, these digital transmission interfaces can only transmit low bit rate high definition picture and low resolution moving picture because of the limit of the bandwidth. Due to the complex structure of circuit and impossibility of transmitting digital audio data, they can' t apply to the high definition real-time video field. In order to overcome these shortcomings, the HDMI is developed.Comparing the HDMI with other interfaces, the ultimate difference is that the HDMI is a completed digital interface, and ensures that there is no compress during delivering. Then it can offer high quality of Video and Audio. HDMI takes the encoding technology of TMDS (Transition Minimized Differential Signal), and it realizes the high speed transmission of the digital signal without loss. In this thesis, the background of HDMI' s appearance and the comparison between HDMI and DVI are introduced. The principle and the structure of HDMI are studied and brief introductions about technology of TMDS are mentioned. The structure of HDMI physical layer, the structure of data channel and encoding of HDMI, besides, the process of audio and video in HDMI are expatiated. Brief introductions about technology of TMDS are mentioned.The principle of ECC BCH is introduced in details. A new-style structure is designed on the basis of intrinsic structure. This structure is composed of two parallel date inputs instead of only one bunch date input. So the speed of data processing is increased, work periods is shortened and work efficiency is improved. The code is designed with Verilog HDL, and it is simulated by Modelsim. The result shows that this structure can improve the speed of transmitting audio date and assistant data.
