Virtual Manufacturing Technology And Its Application In Manufacture

With the development of global economics and increasingly furious competition of market ,conversion from seller's market to buyer's market really happens in manufacturing .It becomes common tasks that improving product's function and quality, decreasing developing duration, receding cost and consummate after service. Virtual manufacturing (VM) is a technology of simulating manufacture process with the help of computer. It makes convenient the evaluation of product, design, manufacturing, performance analysis, and management of production, sales and after service. This technology improves speed of development and lowers its cost.The paper presents the background and a complete survey for state-of-the-art of virtual manufacturing at home and abroad, describes its definition and classification, discusses its characteristics and technological base, studies its key technology and the relation between virtual manufacturing and other advance technology, introduces its application fields and examples, puts forward existing problems and shortness such as lack of macroscopical general layout and capital scarcity of scientific research etc in development of virtual manufacturing in our country now. Then following strategies and suggestions are proposed: 1. High recognition and general layout; 2. Implementing and perfecting basal engineering; 3. Generalizing VMT stage by stage based the demand of enterprises; 4. Attaching importance to train talents, which is very important to push the further development of research and applications of VM.
