The creative Three-Type Theory, the reverse statistics teaching methodology as well as more than 10 published books on medical statistics have contributed to the great reputation enjoyed by the Consulting Center of Biomedical Statistics of the Academy of Military Medical Sciences, which has developed within little more than 10 years into a medium-sized teaching institution from a statistics teaching section. However, the constant advancement of informationizaiton process calls for a change in the old-fashioned pattern of working. On the one hand, the enlarged staff and enrollment of graduate students demand a unified electronic and network-based teaching system; on the other, in the increased cooperative activities with the outside, the internet has become a necessary tool for quickly and conveniently disseminating statistics training information, providing online consulting service and responding to requests for stastical support in research work. Practice has revealed that the current manual handling of daily rountines and the website- dependent information system fall short of the growing demand. Therefore a unified on-line content management system that functions effectivly and is capable of combining daily work with online circulation is required. This article describes the development process of the biomedicine statistics consultation content management system (BSCMS) built upon the JAVA programming language and MyEclipse working platform environment. Following an analysis of the demands of the research personnel at the biomedicine statistics consultation center, the article provides illustrations of the uses and the corresponding drawings. Subsequently the articles goes on to decribe the process of model choosing based on a demand analysis, followed by an introdution of some open-source technologies, such as Spring, Hibernate, JSP, Acegi used in the system. Next is a proposed overall framework of BSCMS, in which a 3-level structural design is emphasized. This article then focuses on the design of the database and the major function modules, using ER diagram in data layer and class diagrams and statechart diagrams in logic layer to generate an accurate representation of the functions of the system, accompanied by a list of the databases, JAVA class lists, and JSP page lists. The article concludes with the practical effect diagrams based on the function modules.
