Design And Implementation Of An Open Source J2se Platform

The development of J2SE is under control of one authorized company, the progress is limited. As some growing technologies, such as .NET, challenging Java, there is growing demand of improving J2SE. As open-source technology and community is strong now, there is a growing regard of implementing an open-source J2SE platform, which is generally believed as the trend of J2SE.Based this idea and a real open-source J2SE project I joined, this paper introduced the architecture, technology and developing process of this open-source J2SE implementation project.At first, this paper introduced the architecture in a modeler view. Both general and detail design scheme are introduced. Then, according to implement scheme, this paper introduced some key technologies of main modules, especially of the API library. At last, this paper introduced some quality ensuring methods in a software engineering view.This project implements a J2SE platform in a creative open-source way, as a great contribution to the J2SE platform and open-source technology. The version 1.4.2 has been released, and version 5. 0 is under developing with more and more concern.My research work focus on the design and implement of API library, proving the feasibility by work, and gain some experience in platform design, implement and quality ensuring. This paper summarized my work, can provide useful reference for similar open-source or J2SE projects.
