In nearly 10 years, the wireless communication has developed rapidly, from 2G to 3G, and is going to enter the era of 3G. The high-speed wireless communication technology not only provides us with a increasingly voice network platform, but also provides us with a increasingly high-speed data network platform. Mobile terminals also have developed rapidly in memory, processor speed, monitor, keyboard input and other aspects. It provides users a more and more convenient interactive. The vast number of users, who has adapted to the information age, put forward higher requirement that they would like to have more quality and convenient services. Under such a circumstances, mobile value-added service open a golden age. From the several types, only the short message, to the diversified development, such as mobile entertainment, mobile office, mobile consulting and so on.After the 9.11 incident of United States, the mobile office is taking more and more extensive favor, mobile email conveniences the mobile office personnel's work who access to information and handle with information. The most successful company in the field of mobile e-mail service is the RIM of Canada. It provides pushmail service which combines the pushmail services and terminals through BlackBerry, and occupied the huge market. Then all the communication operators have begun to provide pushmail services. April 2006 the Unicom launched 'RedBerry' service. And the China mobile put forward BlackBerry business, arming at mobile email in June 2006.But the popular BlackBerry solution is on BlackBerry mobile terminal platform, users need to buy BlackBerry mobile devices can enjoy the pushmail service. Secondly the mainstream of mobile e-mail system or no security encryption measures, or use only end-to-end AES symmetric encryption algorithm and the open air transmission mode of wireless networks also has safety problems. Mobile e-mail is used in work and life more and more, especially in the area of trade and business. Users who enjoying the convenience of mobile e-mail, also face a huge security threat. Moreover, the existing wireless network has the characteristic of narrow bandwidth, high charge and slow speed, especially high charge in using GPRS in China. At present most of mobile e-mail use the traditional SMTP and POP3 protocol. Although for the internet, data transmission redundancy to play the merits of the agreement, for the wireless network, to run on GPRS network SMTP and POP3 is not applicable, because of the bandwidth limitation , wireless network charges , mobile computing and so on.Based on this, the author engaged in research and development of mobile e-mail system, and summarized the paper. This paper discusses how to design and realize a good performance mobile e-mail system, taking the mobile terminal computing power, wireless network bandwidth into account. The paper put forward a new pushmail system which is a real-time, security, simple, efficient solution. It bases on the PKI authentication system, uses the digital to sign and encrypt e-mails, to make sure the confidentiality, integrity and non-repudiation of the e-mails in the wireless transmission. In terminal, it uses J2ME solution, any terminals support J2ME can installed software freely and enjoy the pushmail service. It transmits a large amount of data through GPRS network, and uses private protocols. In such way, it not only improved the speed, but also reduces the users' communication costs. The paper from the overall design, server design, terminal design and database design describe the system and elaborated on the four modules and the involved key technologies. At last, it make the prospect of the pushmail system.
