The Design And Implementation Of An Operational Pushmail Platform

PushMail, namely "Mobile Email", also formally called as "active push mail business", is a service which directly sends Emails to the terminal (mobile phone) using PUSH technology. PushMail links together with the user's mailbox. If the PushMail service is opened, Emails of the user's mailbox will be immediately pushed to the user's mobile phone. And the user can conveniently read Emails and complete corresponding treatment on his mobile phone.After analyzing and summarizing of existing PUSH projects and practical PUSH systems, this paper mainly designs an operational PushMail platform. The PushMail platform has a fat-server/thin-client framework and the entire complex works are done in the server side. The user can receive and read Emails on his mobile phone without replacing his mobile phone or installing any other software. Moreover, it supports more kinds of attach files in Emails. The PushMail platform greatly simplifies the user's operation and is easy to use and popularize.In this paper, some background knowledge, such as; PUSH, WAP, WAP PUSH, is firstly introduced. Then, this paper discusses how to design and realize the PushMail platform in detail. In the end, this paper does an evaluation for the PushMail platform, introduces its merits and shortcomings and explains the further work for the PushMail platform.
