Mobile station OTA testing is a measurement method, used to evaluate the capability of wireless terminal connecting with network, along with the influence on RP and receiver performance taken by user. General Purpose Interface Bus (GPIB) is broadly used in intelligent instrument control programming. Auto-testing system based on GPIB integrates virtual instrument technology, computer technology and programmable instrument; it owns the advantages of easy operation, high precision, high speed, and fine expansibility. This paper has studied the application of computer control technology on OTA testing, briefly introduces background knowledge, then explains the principle of OTA testing, involves testing conditions and methods, afterward, through developing an actual OTA testing system, illustrates how to buildup hardware platform and design software framework, provided software module chart, also analyses the detail implement procedures. Selects VC 6.0 as software development; tools, according to virtual instrument idea, each instrument category is designed as an abstract class. This system resolves the problem of multi-wireless accessing technologies OTA auto testing. the function modules include equipment initialization, testing procedure control, result determination, information storage and management, measurement report auto generation etc. making use of GPIB card to communication between control program and programmable instruments, ADO technology is applied to save measurement data, and used MS Word component to generate report table. VC 6.0 supports visual programming, so this software product is very convenient for manipulating, and has friendly user interface, DLL technology helps system to achieve modularization. In the end, evaluation and conclusion for this OTA testing solution are made, and discuss the system extendibility together with advance suggestions.
