With the expanding development of domestic Communication Industry, The seniorCommunication cables’s demand is becoming more and more prominent, in themanufacturing field. In order to monitor the index of communication cables’performance, an efficient and intelligent testing system (including the testingequipments and skill) will be needed as a manufacture.This thesis employs HP VEE as the core control software, making full use ofvirtual instruments’ technology and computer function, based on the existing hardwareto develop a testing system for cable industry. According to the different nature oftesting parameter, it develops the corresponding testing methods and through softwaresetting, it presents us a process to check and exam if all the target parameter of the cablewere good enough to reach the requirement, from data collecting to putting out acomprehensive testing report.The major Jobs of this thesis as follows:1. Adopting the virtual instrumental system based on GPIB bus (i.e.IEEE488bus)technology to ensure the measuring accuracy of the testing system.2. On the basis of global testing methods of cables, and then taking the actual contextof the cable manufacturers into consideration, it finally works out the relating designof the software system for the cable testing.3. Taking the customer requirements as the priority, it achieves the data transmissionbetween HP VEE and Office Excel. Through which it makes easier for engineer tovisually analyze and exam the data after testing.4. It adds the auto detect function for data from the Office Excel and self-determinedfunction for quantitative indicating, through which it forms the comprehensivetesting report. These new application reduce the errors for data input by hand, to amost extent.This thesis studies on the building of a testing platform of the virtualinstrumentation, in the fields of the signal assembling、analyzing and processing. Itprovides a highly flexible testing system for easily assessing and testing the transmission character of the communication cable for the cable manufacturer.Meanwhile, it innovate the traditional testing form and converts it to the auto testingmethod, transferring the testing site from lab to in-line testing, through which a newemployee is capable to implement the testing assignment after simple training. Itrealizes the simplification and intelligent for the testing job.
