With agriculture IT continuously growing, researchers pay more and more attention on the study of virtual plant. Virtual plant is a kind of academic disciplines which is quickly developed with the technology of plant simulation. Virtual plant has a prosperously application prospect in agriculture science, ecology, botany, forestry, virtual teaching and so on. According to different researches and different aims, the research of virtual plant is divided into ground part and root system. The root system environment is lack of visibility and too complex as well as measuring the technology and theory method is limatete, so far, the research news report that the research virtual plant concentrates mainly on ground part ,there is less report about the root system.The wheat roots were selected as this paper's research object, on basic study of relevant knowledge home and abroad, the wheat root growth model had been built. The wheat root model was based on chemophysiology and crop ecology. This reaearch realized the simulation of the growth process of wheat root system physiology organism's habits and the distribution of root system. The main work of this paper are as follows:(1)According to the "Growth rule of wheat root system" experimental data, after observing, analysing, several basic parameters affecting wheat root growth were given. The wheat root simulation method was come up with by combing the theroy of growth equation model and L system.(2)The wheat root growth equation model was built on growth equation theory. The root system datum were largely collected under aquaculture. Using Matlab analysed the root data and gave corresponding growth equation.(3) On the basis of analysing L system theory, realized the two-dimensional L system conversion to three-dimensional L system. After studying particular topology of wheat root, established the L system of wheat root.(4) The three-dimensional visualized simulation was realized through using VC++'s MFC and OpenGL technology by Combing the growth equation and L system. At the same time, adopting the OpenGL powerful warehouse technology, realized root system readjusts oneself to a certain extent, rotates, translates and colour, light, smooth treatment.Virtual plant could replace some parts of expensive experiments which waste time and energy; Optimize agricultural management measure, guide rational irrigation and apply fertilizer; provide help to studying the crop resisting against nature, designe the optimization root system configuration; provide help to agriculture field science and technology achievement extends; provide the penetrating-rization auxiliary means for teaching practice.
