The paper studies the principle, design and application of CMOS current controlled conveyor. Firstly, it introduces the development and characters of the current-mode circuit, and compares current-mode circuit with voltage-mode circuit simply. Afterwards, the development of current conveyor and the principle and feature of current conveyor and current controlled conveyor based on the model of bipolar junction transistor (BJT) and CMOS transistor are introduced. Finally, it systematically introduces the applications of second generation current controlled conveyor in the analog integrated circuit. The main achievements consist of as following aspects.(1) Three new configurations for realizing CMOS second generation current controlled conveyor are presented in this paper, which are described as following: 1) terminal X and terminal Y are all serial configurations; 2) terminal X is serial configuration and terminal Y is parallel configuration; 3) terminal X and terminal are all parallel configurations. In order to verify the performance of the proposed circuits, theory analyses and PSPICE simulations of the circuits have been done. All the results verified the performance of the circuits meets ideal performance. The difference between the proposed three circuits can be obtained by comparing the circuit configuration and simulation results of every new circuit. These three CMOS CCCII modes are provided with important significance in circuit design and fabrication technology of current controlled conveyor and its application.(2) A configuration for realizing digitally programmable voltage-mode universal biquad filter Based on proposed CMOS CCCII circuit is presented in this paper. The circuit is composed of four CCCII basic modules, two capacitance and three switches. The five filtering output which are low-pass, band-pass, high-pass, band-stop and all-pass can be realized by controlling the switches. The circuit owns many advantages such as high input impedance, simple circuit structure, the passive elements only having the earthed capacitances, adjusting the natural angular frequencyω0 and quality-factor Q, digitally programmable characteristic and low sensitivities and so on. At the same time, PSPICE simulation results verify its performance. The proposed circuit can be applied to analogue-digital mixed integrated circuits.
