This paper studies computer measurement and control technology, grating measurement technology and instrument calibration technology, designs and implements the automatic tester for length dial gauge. The automatic tester with distributed system structure is divided into four modules by function which are coupled by I2C bus. The system samples the displacement by grating sensor, calculates using tangent subdivision method, compares the sample displacement with the displacement of the dial gauge, obtains the precision level, interacts with users by the LCD touch-screen, and prints out the result by micro printer. The design of automatic tester for length dial gauge basically accords with verification regulation of tester for dial indicator gauges issued by Supervising Department of Quality and Technology of China. The instrument has features of high automatization, high precision, flexible and convenient operation and so on, receives the praise of experts, with value of popularization and use.
