For the leather parameters such as softness, fullness, and elasticity aredifficult to be completely described based on one or two mechanical properties,a new type of instrument for measuring three leather parameters has beendeveloped in this project in order to achieve the objective determination of theparameters. This instrument consists of three parts, such as mechanical part,motion control part, and data acquisition&processing part.Firstly, according to the movement of the leather parameters testingrequirements, PROE5.0and AutoCAD2007are used as design platforms tocomplete the platform structures design, the sensor holders design, provide acarrier for the design of control system and testing system.Secondly, the motions control system has also been finished according tothe requirements. The system, STC89C52SCM as the controller, includesLeetro DMD402A stepper motor and corresponding driver and motion controlsystem of precious electric control displacement platform. Use the KeiluVision2as programming tool to develop the control system’s software. Thepulse signal PUL, issued by the STC89C52SCM, controls the stepper motor’scorner control, and the direction signal DIR, issued by the STC89C52SCM,controls the direction of the stepper motor, achieving the forward and reversecontrol and acceleration and deceleration control of the stepper motor. Thesemovements are used to achieve the test of the leather’s tensile, compression, andbending properties.In addition, detection system has also been finished. The system alsoincludes two parts of the hardware and the application program. The hardwarearchitecture basically consists of the microcontroller and its peripheral circuit,the grating sensor, pressure sensor and its accompanying transmitter. Theapplication program design, Keil uVision2as a platform for software development, is to achieve data collection, filtering, and conversion.Finally, integrate these three systems, achieving the test of these threedifferent types of mechanical properties, thus laying the foundation for theobjective evaluation of leather parameters. The experiments show that theapplication of STC89C52microcontroller for motion control system and dataacquisition and processing system, has the benefit of easy programming, lowcosts of development and powerful operability and so on, fitting on-site testing.
