| The third revolution in China's TV broadcasting started in 2002 in Nanjing, where a program called Nanjing Zero Distance was on show at Jiangsu TV Station. Since then, people's livelihood news has flooded all TV programs. Many TV stations opened such programs. They have become an important method in competition and an effective measure to improve the audience rating.After years of rapid development, people's livelihood news has created considerable audience rating and social benefit. Such programs have also become the major parts in many TV stations. The competition among these programs has become fierce. Take Changchun as an example, during the period of 17:20 to 20:00 everyday, there are 5 programs concerning people's livelihood in provincial and municipal TV stations. Some other news programs such as The Law, also contain some contents about people's livelihood. During an era when the information is completely open, these programs start to face same problems: overlapped time, repeated contents and similar pattern. The advantages have been counteracted during such competition.The most active element in productivity is human, while in the people's livelihood news programs, the element which is the most difficult to copy is the host. As the one to communicate with audiences directly, host is the core of a program. Currently, those programs which are nicely welcomed by audiences all have a competent host, such as Meng Fei in Nanjing Zero Distance and Yuan Yuan in The 7th Day. However, for most other programs, the element of host is not given enough attention to.In fact, the features of people's livelihood news provide a good platform for hosts to display his/her charm. The pattern for such news program is quite different from that of traditional news programs. With years of practice, more methods have been used in such programs. At the same time, the audience group and the depth of such programs all bring forward higher demand for the host. They need one who has his/her unique quality, great influence and who is ready to speak for the people and is loved by the people.The host's role is not only an announcer, but s/he is also a socialist, a theorist, a speechmaker and even a thinker. S/he should fully display the idea of the program, participate in the production of the program, have rich experience and be good at commentary. S/he should be competent in broadcasting, commenting, interviewing and other program patterns. However, there are not such anchors in its narrow sense in China. Although many hosts in people's livelihood news programs are entitled"the anchor", they are actually playing a role as both an announcer and a host. Currently, the patterns for people's livelihood news programs can mainly be divided into three categories, namely, majoring in broadcasting, in telling and in commenting. They have their own disadvantages such as stiffness, superficialness and random. While the anchors, with their professional quality, rich experience and knowledge, have become the most suitable candidates for such news programs. To establish an anchor system will greatly promote the development of people's livelihood news programs.However, the establishment of such a system imposes a great demand for the qualification of the staff. The anchor should not only have the basic quality of a news worker, but also rich social experiences, strong organizational ability, broadcasting ability and expressional ability. The anchor system in America has been quite mature, but that in China is just beginning. Due to the differences in political system, news system, economy, culture, living style and the quality of the staff, it is impossible to copy the American system, but we can learn from them. To implement such a system in people's livelihood news programs will surely promote its development and finally help find out a perfect way to train competent anchors which is suitable to the special situation in our country. |
