In October 2005, the 5th Plenum of the 16th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China officially mapped out a scheme to boost the construction of a new socialist countryside. Starts from 2006, our country entered a new historical stage to build a new socialist countryside. This thesis takes the News Dissemination and National Development Theory as rationale, centers on the promotion of mass media in building a new socialist countryside. This thesis is primarily based on qualitative analysis, mainly in documentary analysis. This thesis is mainly constructed by following three parts:First, the mass media promote the construction of a new socialist countryside in various ways. The mass media display many functions in the process of countryside development, such as society mobilization, environmental supervision, information carrier, "part-time teacher "and so on, which effectively impel the development of countryside. For a long term, the mass media can renew farmers'idea, increase modernity of farmer, and then accelerate the modernization of countryside indirectly. The construction of mass media in countryside itself is part of the construction of a new socialist countryside.Second, in order to fully display the promotion of mass media for the countryside development, farmers must be able to contact each kind of different mass media freely, be able to gain each kind of beneficial information. At present, the unbalanced distribution of mass media in countryside baffles the full display of mass media's function in great degree.Third, to create better condition for mass media to promote the construction of a new socialist countryside fully, the government, mass media and communication researchers should work hand in hand.
