Development Of Rural Library At The Background Of Building A New Socialist Countryside

Developing rural libraries which concerns the healthy and sustainable improvement of culture, economy, education etc. is an essential part of building a new socialist countryside. The thesis shows the importance of rural library in the construction of new socialist countryside, considers rural library as rural information resource center, an important position of the local culture, a significant tool for rural economic development, the core of rural education and a vital way for blending urban and rural culture. After than, the thesis discusses the status quo of rural library development in China and suggests that the main achievements we have obtained are as follows: in well developed areas, government actively promotes this course and invests on it gradually; township enterprises'prosperity ensures rural library construction funds; multiple-level library network is built; rural people's cultural life is becoming richer. And the existing chief problems are mainly as follows: in those under developed areas, developing fund is not enough, economic basis is weak, farmers lack the consciousness for library information and managing regulation is not formed. In the third chapter, the author puts forward two kinds of characteristic libraries in rural areas and then gives a chief research on foreign rural library development. In the fourth chapter, the author probes into the developing ways of rural library and at last forecasts the prospect of this cause in our country.
