As the RFID technology moves on, more and more enterprises begin to use it to provide themselves ways to solve problems. For example, the modern manufacturing industry, the modern transportation industry, the modern medication industry etc. All kinds of these industries must store huge amounts of RFID data to analyze information.RFID data compression shows the traditional data compression on RFID data; it is the starting point for enterprises to make analysis. The traditional data compression ways have some effect on RFID data compression, but they do not take the RFID data format into account, so they are not effective. The paper put forwards a RFID data compression algorithm which is based on EPCglobal specification and LZ77. The former defines the RFID data format while the latter is widely used in practice. We will show that the refined compression algorithm provides an effective way for large amounts of RFID data compression.First, we analyze the time complexity, space complexity and compression ratio of RFID data compression which uses traditional compression algorithm. Then we analyze the time complexity, space complexity and compression ratio of RFID data compression which uses refined compression algorithm. By comparison of two ways, we show the high effectiveness of refined compression algorithm. We will also discuss some differences between small enterprises and large enterprises on RFID data compression.
