Computer simulation is a branch of computer science, which applies computer technology to simulate real world behavior and functionality. In this paper, the author's research target is microscopic simulation based on grid technology. Such a system has following attributes: large scale, distributed and microscopic. The paper includes following aspect:1. Research and implement the skeleton of microscopic simulation, applying the application onto grid technology;2. Describing technology issues encountered during the research and developing. Implement the abstract layer of multiple agent system and coordinator agent model; integrate HLA and JADE into a distributed simulation system;3. Build models for traffic and applying these roles into a traffic simulation application. The innovations of this paper are as follows: Build intelligent entity models using agent system; bring forward an abstract multi-layer roles of agents designed for simulation, the author defines 3-layers agent architecture that is suitable for most microscopic simulation purpose; integrate High Level Architecture (HLA) and Java Agent Development Kit (JADE) for a microscopic simulation framework, using a new coupling method for reducing communication overhead and system cost; apply grid resource monitoring services into simulation for static and dynamic load balance; implement grid service with agent mobility on achieving system scalability, etc.
