Design And Implementation Of Web-based Public Packet Telecom. Data Network Management System

With the popularity of Internet applications, an emerging problem is how to guarantee the network devices work reliably, safely, and efficiently. For various network devices and their software, a good network management system can provide effective supervision, explanation and control. Therefore, network management is a very important issue of the research of network technologies.At the first, this thesis presents a new solution to the Future Packet Based Network-Public packet Telecom. Data Network, and analyze the network structure andworking of it. Then the paper introduces the current status and developing trends, and systematically describes the concept and basic functionality of network management and analyzes various structures of network management models in detail. And then, this thesis studies the simple network management Protocol (SNMP) and Web based management (WBM). SNMP is the most widely used network management protocol and the network management system for PTDN presented by this thesis is just based on SNMP. WBM is a combination of network management technology and web technology. It offers greater power than traditional tools in network management. Network administrators can detect and control their networks from any places and from any Web browsers. Management is not limited to the network management stations as usual. At last, combined with the concrete requirements of the PTDN and based on the SNMPv2c and the technology of Web, this paper brings forth a new solution to PTDN network management. As a result, a whole network management system for PTDN is designed. The paper primarily implements the functions of configuration management, performance management, fault management, security management and operation management for PTDN on a Linux system. This system solves the problem that current IP network can't be controlled and managed, so it also matches to the standards on Future Packet Based Network defined by ITU-T, and well grounds the future research work in this field theoretically and practically.This system has being used in the real environment for a period of time, and it does good works. Through the system, network administrators can query, configure, manage the network devices in PTDN, and collect parameters of the managed devices, also they can discover malfunctions both occurred and potentially exist in time and troubleshoot them quickly. It greatly improves the quality of the network maintenance tasks.
