This paper provides a new design of LED large screen Chinese character display system that uses the S3C2410, the EP1C6Q240C8 and Linux operating system. The new system overcomes some defects of the early LED Chinese character display system, such as the single information releasing method and the screen scanning circuit being changed difficultly. The new system can meet the market demand and has wider range of application. This paper explains detailedly the design thought and realizing method of the new LED Information Display Screen System, and its main content include:1. This paper describes the characteristics and working mode of the mainstream LED information display screen system; according to the gap of between maket demand and the function of the mainstream LED information display screen system, this paper makes a requirement analysis for the new LED information display screen system.2. This paper proposes three design thought, including of taking FPGA as the core, taking ARM9 as the core and taking ARM9+FPGA as the core. This paper determines to take the design scheme of ARM9+FPGA that can be suitable to the system by analyzing and comparing them.3. This paper analyses an usual driver circuit design to monochrome LED large screen, and choose the design that has a high performance/price being ratio.4. This paper designs the independent screen scanning logic according to the interface of the LED screen driver circuit, and it includes: SPI data receiving module, receiving cache module, displaying cache module, scanning and controlling module, data output module.5. This paper chooses the suitable hardware developing platform, and customizes the Linux kernel for the system application, and builds an embedded system for displaying the information by LED large screen.6. This paper describes the working flow of the application programe, and explains detailedly the designing thought and the realizing points of the application programe, and describes the principle of LED screen scanning, and the design method of SPI dirver.
