Embedded equipments are becoming more and more popular in the domains of industry and consumption and they were designed for given application with more strict requirements such as code running efficiency, memory usage, power dissipation etc. It is necessary to design a hardware platform for given application which is different from common processor. With the development of embedded technology, embedded Java technologies have come into appearance. The Java programming Language is a platform-independent and replant language. Java compilers do not produce native object code for a particular platform but rather'byte code'instructions for the Java Virtual Machine (JVM). With the development of Real-Time Specification for Java(RTSJ), it is possible for Java to apply in real-time circumstances throuth the expanding of JVM. And now researches on embedded Java processor are focus on the improvement of whole performance but not on the real-time.The characteristics of current embedded Java technology and FPGA are researched in this paper. Based on the hard real-time embedded Java processor implemented with low-price FPGA of our lab, a optimized design for the ALU of processor is proposed so that the processor can be more compatible with the RTSJ and be more extensible. A fault tolerant arithmetic of FPGA switch block interconnection is studied in this paper. The main objective of this arithmetic is to assess the routability of the switch block array in the presence of faults, and to use algorithm to find appropriate route, to avoid fault and to improve fault tolerant of processor. At last, the experiment data approve validity and feasibility of the Java processor architecture implemented with low-price FPGA.
