Grid is a network infrastructure of information society, whose goal is to realize mutual communication and cooperation of all network resources. "Grid Service System" is a grid middleware served for a special-field-oriented high performance computing platform. Today, continuous usage of high performance resources and development of grid technology does not bring a prosperous prospect to grid application. On the contrary the develop process of grid application was far behind grid itself, especially lack an application-related mechanism used to describe, store, release, search and use grid applications.The application service sub-system of Grid Service System was proposed for the problem mentioned above. This thesis used the grid software resources management views for reference, introduced the concept of grid application service which deal with the integration of application with grid in grid service. The application service sub-system was design and implemented based on the thought above. The design of sub-system follows the hierachical principle on the structure and exhibits modulization characteristic on function. According to the actual need, we presented abstract description to specify application service description. Through this way the mutual operability between different lay was enhanced. During the course of the implementation, we adopt Web Services to build the prototype of the sub-system. Fully utilize the advantage of XML document in describing things, use it as the application description language, make the multi-tuple of application description keep its integrity while the element of it holding mutually independence at the same time. The sub-system provided application release, store, and query interface via Web services encapsulation. Simplify application using process with strategy of pre-deploy of executing body. RIA technique was applied to develop our friendly web page, the user experience was improved.Finally, we tested and evaluated the sub-system in detail. Testing result demonstrated that our system reached the design requirement in availability, standardization, configurability, transplantablity and security.
