With the development of the technology of embedded micro control and field bus, the process control of modern train has developed from concentrated direct digital control system to distributed control system which based on network. Train Communication Network (TCN), established respectively by International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), is aiming to offer the convenience to the railway departments and train equipment providers to actualize the interlinkage of train vehicles around the world. TCN comprises two levels, the Wire Train Bus(WTB) connecting the vehicles and the Multifunction Vehicle Bus(MVB) connecting the equipment aboard a vehicle or group of vehicles. Nowadays, the communication system within a train is a central issue for train system integration. However, TCN only describes the basic communication mechanism for MVB and WTB communication. It does not define an application specific profile like the content and meaning of data. Therefore it is not enough to ensure interoperability between vehicles from different manufacturers. UIC556 standard protocol established by International Union of Railways (UIC) is to solve the problem of interoperability for TCN.Firstly, IEC61375-1 and UIC556 standard protocols are studied, and UIC556 is analyzed as connecting TCN and the functions of applications that ensures all vehicles built to the specification speak the same language over the train bus. The overall design of UIC Mapping Server is presented based on the research. Secondly, according to the workflow of UIC Mapping Server, it is divided into five child modules: UIC Agent, UIC WTB Bus Manager, UIC Train Bus Configurator, UIC Intelligent Multicast Server and NADl(Node Address and Attribute Directory) and NADI&Group Server. The implementations of all the functions of the five modules are detailed on Nucleus embedded real time operation system platform by C language. Finally, the test is made to every child module in laboratory. The result of the test indicates that the implementation of UIC Mapping Server in the paper meets the demand of standard protocol.
