Electronics, computer science and communications are the key technologies in the ITS (Intelligent Transportation System) field, The rapid development in these technologies directly push the products in the ITS to a new high. As a significant part of that, the surveillance systems tend to be more digital and more intelligent in the future.In this paper, an embedded system based on S3C2410 and Linux is designed, which is used to develop a speeding snapshot system for all the purpose. The system supports two speed measurement methods, to measure speed by induction coils or by radar. We get the real speeding information from serial port, set the signal to ignite softirq. USB driver and network driver based on the Linux 2.6.12 are developed. For constructing the embedded software architecture, in the need of this system, the Bootloader which is changed from U-BOOT is made, the little stable kernel which is changed from Linux 2.6.12 is made, the root file system which is compressed into the type of ramdisk is made. The application software is written in the multi-thread mode, some communicate methods between the processes are adopted. The digital camera is controlled to take the picture under of the program by USB, a communication component is created, which bases on TCP/IP protocol, this part is written by the socket API, The client/server model is adopted, the client carry circulates under the Linux environment, the server carry circulates under the windows environment.A summary is given at the end of the thesis, and problems to be further improved or continuously researched are discussed.The system structure and design method of speeding Snapshot System of Traffic Violation is discussed in this paper, and implementation is given. It can be a good reference in the research of the similar field.
