Smart car belongs to the category of wheeled robots, it’s working environment is often very poor, it can complete the detection task in the place where humans cannot survive, such as the Moon, Mars and so on. Smart car is a set of advanced sensor technology, embedded, artificial intelligence and automation technologies. This articles presents a smart car tracking system based on embedded ARM’s high performance and low power consumption.This paper firstly introduces the intelligent vehicle research status at home and abroad, and then discuss the future development, finally, this paper designs the whole system of intelligent vehicle. The system uses a modular design approach, to establish a framework for the entire hardware platform of intelligent vehicle control system. The hardware platform framework includes the following modules:S3C2440core board module, DC motor drive control module, wireless communication transmission module, image acquisition and processing module etc.. The hardware system can provide support for intelligent autonomous vehicles roaming, manual control and autonomous tracking, real-time image acquisition and wireless transmission processing functions.We built a intelligent vehicle control system software platform based on ARM.In the software development environment of Ubuntu, Secure_CRT, DNW and VMware, we built the embedded cross compile environment, BootLoader, Linux kernel and root file system transplant, set up NFS service.This make the share between PC and Linux more easier than before. Write, compile, and transplant the driver of the motion control.We loaded the GPIO,PWM and other drivers.This system completed the motion control system,image acquisition fuction and network transmission function. We control the car by calling the function.Finally, the smart car module is installed,this system use the mobile power to supply5V,it uses camera,wireless card to obtain and transfer date.The software system handle the data collected by the vehicle hardware,and then control the hardware according the result.Through the experiment,all the fuction can work propertity.This system achieves car roaming,remote monitoring,intelligent vehicle tracking and real-time image transmission.The system is stable and reliable,it achieves the desired results.
