| Internet has penetrated into almost every aspect of our daily life with the rapid development of computer science and communication technology. Office automation has become one of the criteria to measure the level of civilization of a society. The prosperity of education cause and the deepening of educational system reform make the work efficiency of daily management in universities and colleges focus of attention. The application of office automation in daily management will greatly improve the basic environment for teaching, research and management. The development and the application of office automation system in daily administrative management will, to a great extent, the degree of modernization of the school management. To build a high quality office automation system suitable for our school's present states is one of the indispensable means of improving the management and work efficiency.The present article elaborates on the process of designing and carrying out of office automation system in universities and colleges based on J2EE base and B/S structure which is developed using JSP language. B/S(Browser/Server)structure which is the result of altering and innovating of the C/S structure is also called viewer and service structure. In this system the user interface is realized by WWW viewer with few routine logics realized by Browser and most of them by Server, thus the so called 3-tier structure is formed. In this way the TCO is lowered in two ways: the end users'load capacity is greatly simplified and the cost of maintenance and updating of the system is sharply reduced. The development of B/S structure in local network and the application of data base through Internet/Intranet model are less difficult and costly. It is developed once and for all and will enable people to visit and operate the common data base from different locations and in different ways. It will also efficiently protect the data platform and supervise the visiting right, therefore the data base of the server is also safe. B/S management software is more convenient, fast and efficient especially after the appearance of cross platform language like JAVA.The article elaborates on the process of designing and carrying out of the suitable office automation system serving for our school's present states. The specific modules are summarized as follows:1. Feed the personal information of the students and teaching staff into the data base to enable them to consult what they need.2. Establish library management module to facilitate the management of library.3. Set up office automation sub-system to realize the e-mail communication on campus.4. Build web school including learning materials, online training and online testing to provide teaching and learning resources for students in different departments. Organize online training regularly on the current technology and knowledge of various majors to widen the horizon and the proficiency of the teachers and students. Help to realize online testing, particularly subjects related to computer science, to improve the practical ability of the students.5. Establish management sub-system to offer different rights to students and teachers so that the comprehensive management in our school is improved. This system realizes the office automation management of our school using Internet which will enhance the daily management and work fairness so that all the teachers and students will get great convenience. |
