Numerical Weather Prediction has become an indispensable foundation and instrument for the meteorological forecast production. To ensure the business system operates effectively, an intuitive, convenient means is needed to monitor and manage the business process. Till now, most of the monitor and management of the running status and progress is manually operated, based on the output information of the procedures. This kind of method is not intuitive enough and has a higher requirement for the user.Considering the monitoring demand of Numerical Weather Prediction System and its specific properties, we have to find a solution to overcome the current shortage of proper tools for monitoring and management. In this dissertation, the monitor and management technology of procedure under the HPC platform and grid computation environments is researched from the aspects of process definition, process scheduling policy, fault tolerance mechanism and the management strategy. For the HPC platform, a set of formulas which include the structural elements, monitor elements, triggers and control elements is defined to describe the business process of numerical weather prediction system according to the characteristic of numerical weather forecast business. In order not to modify the original system too much, this thesis proposed a plug-in component structure. At the same time, the fault tolerance mechanisms, process scheduling policy have also been taken into account.According to the grid computing environments, a component-based workflow modeling method is put forward to enhance the reusability of business process, based on the theory of Petri-net and WF-NET. In order to solve the problem of heteroideous and variation of grid resources, a method that concrete web service be dynamically bounded during running process is brought forward. And a message bus structure based on the subscribe/publish model is designed to reduce the system overhead, which is usually brought by frequent data interactions among the monitor components.Based on the above theoretical research results, this thesis has designed and implemented the business process monitor and management system: WebSMS and EPGFlow. WebSMS is constructed upon the HPC platform and EPGFlow upon the grid computing environments.
