Research And Implementation Of Remote Laboratory Based On Internet

Remote laboratory would play a significant role in solving problem of large unmber students at school and lack of funds for buying enouth experimental devices, exploring new experiment pattern, sharing expensive experimental equipments, and collaborating between universities, research groups, which may locate in different cities or different states. Especially the popularization of computer and the broad application of Internet technology currently established foundation for the building of remote laboratory. So most universities and research institution domestic and overseas are studying the work mechanism and key technology of the remote laboratory. They have builded some demonstrate on remote labratory. Some of these have been used. The actual application indicates that the effect is favorable.The research about remote laboratory is at initial stages currently, and more further studies about the remote laboratory functional requirements, interaction mode between humans and remote experimental devices, management and maintenance methods, system architecture, and security strategies for Internet and experimental devices, etc. are needed, based on significance of remote laboratory,a survey of domestic and overseas research about remote laboratory is made firstly. Then the advantages and disadvantages of remote laboratories are pointed out after comparing with virtual laboratory and real laboratory. The general functional requirements of remote laboratory are analyzed.The architecture of Remote Control Laboratory and the steps of perfoming an experiment in a remote laboratory environment are introduced. Hereunder, a remote process control laboratory system based on Internet are designed and Implemented, the programe of RLab Server is implemented with LabWindows/CVI enviroment, it may provide serveral control server such as PID control, fuzzy control, fuzzy self-adaptive PID control, BP neural network PID control, cascade control and so on. The inteaction interface of clients is implemented with Java applet, it supply remote experiment such as singled closed loop level control of a tank, singled closed loop pressure control,singed closed loop temperature control,singled closed loop level control of two tanks,cascade control and so on, and may presented the results or evaluation of control effectiveness based on the analysis of those recorded data .The program of Video server is implemented with JMF, it supply network video image of experimental devices.Several test results show the remote process control laboratory system meet the needs of process control experiments. And it is possessed of some characteristics such as easy expand, interaction mode between humans and remote experimental devices favorable, intuitionist in display and convenient for operation.
