Being an important part of higher education, experiment plays a great role in helping nurture creative and innovative talented students. However, the teaching style of present experiment education is too rigid and restrictive for the students, on the other hand, the recruitment expansion of universities has brought on immense pressure on experiment teaching, greatly influencing the teaching results of experiment. With the quick development of computer technology, computer-aided teaching functions have become much stronger, the design and development of Web-based experiment teaching system have received more and more attention, but the current systems are by no means satisfying. After comprehensive research and analysis, we developed a new Web-based experiment teaching system based on the mixed mode of B/S and C/S, guided by the Autonomic Learning Theory, Mastery Learning Theory and Learning Process Optimization Theory, with a view of nurturing students' creative abilities and enhancing utilization rate of teaching resources, through the developing tool of Visual Studio.NET 2005 and SQL Server 2005. The system strengthens class-booking function and adds self-designing experiment module, greatly improving students' autonomic learning ability. The present paper discusses the Web-based experiment teaching system in detail, covering the whole process including comprehensive analysis, module division and technique realization; also it makes research into related realization techniques, and puts forth solutions to several key issues. The paper concludes the innovative points, points out matters to be further researched, and states the direction of later improvement. The system is now on trial and has been well received by the customers.
