Machine Vision System has an increasing wide range of industrial application. Industrial camera is the core of the system. It requires high image quality, high transmission rate and standard interface. This paper describes the design of a CCD digital camera applied to Machine Vision System.The CCD digital camera presented in this paper is mainly constituted by two modules: timing pulse generation circuit for CCD device and IEEE1394a digital interface module. The design utilize FPGA and dedicated A/D to jointly produce timing pulse for CCD, increasing design flexibility and stability; the use of IEEE 1394 DCAM protocol as a digital interface transfer protocol has raised the camera compatibility.The test results show that the camera produces hi-definition images, transmits data at high speed, and is compatible with DCAM protocol. It has achieved the expected results.
