According to the need of reading images in the clothing CAD technology and the CAD for three-dimensional packaging carton in the manufacturing of light industry, this thesis has developed a set of portable two-dimensional digital inputing system. The system is used for digital inputing complex edges of the two-dimensional sample with the personal digital camera based on the machine vision detection technology and the image processing technology. In this thesis, the system realizes automatic measurement of two-dimensional edge size of the sample and inputing the measurement data to the clothing or packaging caton CAD system. The hardware and the software designs of the system are completed finally in the thesis.The main research work of this thesis focuses on:(1) Research on the theory and methods of realizing two-dimensional digital inputing with personal digital camera and analyzed the present status of the researching and the developing of the two-dimensional digital inputing system.(2) Research on the calibration technology based on the digital camera to obtain the actual size of the two-dimensional sample.(3) Research on the method of digital image processing and obtain the high-quality edges of the two-dimensional sample in the image finally. Because the image is captured in the natrual light by the digital camera, the light intensity in the image is distributed unevenly. Then the method of searching the histogram to obtain the threshold which is used for image binarization returns a bad result. In response to this situation, a method of automatic selection of the threshold during the image binarization is proposed. The two-dimensional sample in the image can be separated out accurately by using the threshold which is selected in the method and the result meets the requirement.(4) Research on the edge vectorization including with edge track, corner detection and line fitting. finally, the data of edge vectorization is got. The line type identification and fitting is completed.(5) Research on the method of abstracting the feature points and lines in the clothing sample.(6) Research on the data interface between the vectorial data and the CAD software. To redesign and remanufacture, the vectorial data is transformed into the various special CAD/CAM system through the data format conversion.(7) The design of the software interface and the integration of functional modules is completed. The appropriate personal digital camera and calibration plate is selected.
