As a link in the supply chain, Manufacturing enterprises are more aware of the importance and urgency for effective implementation of material management. To fundamentally and continuously improve the product quality and promote after-sales service, improve the overall competitiveness strength of manufacturing enterprises, it is very important to establish a comprehensive material tracking system oriented overall supply chain. It has very important significance for manufacturing enterprise to implement effective material tracking.At present, research works on logistics and supply chain are very active at home and abroad, research results also abundant. But there is little research relative to material tracking system, existing researches are mainly limit to a part, such as tracking of WIP. From procurement of raw material to assembly finished goods, until finally sale and ship goods, research on tracking the whole supply chain process basically not involved, or someone proposed a preliminary concept of overall material tracking but no specific research and apply on tracking process. In the current highly competitive market, it is essential to enhance supply chain contingency and improve the agility of supply chain and every enterprise on it, and tracking material of the entire process in supply chain. Material tracking system can effectively help enterprises to improve product quality, reduce costs, optimize processes, and increase economic efficiency.Consequently, the focal point of study aimed at manufacturing enterprises'management processes of supply chain, propose how to through information-based ways, design a material tracking system oriented overall supply chain on the basis of ERP system.
