The author is working for BesTV LTD. Which is belong to SMG(Shanghai Media Group). Since April 2005, he has been taken charge of the IPTV system programming and building project of SMG in Haerbin and Shanghai. The content of this article is mainly based the experience which is get from the learning and practice during these times. And with the article, Author expresses the opinion about how to deploy IPTV system in CHINA.As we know, now the IPTV technical system is still not ripe enough, many technical standers are not unified; there are many different opinion about the deployment of IPTV system in CHINA among the government,operators and system manufacturers. These different opinions are not in favor of the development of the IPTV industry. So, one of the purpose is to summarize the experience during the one more year's IPTV relative programming and building work, the other is expressing my own opinion and comment about the deployment of IPTV system in CHINA according to my comprehension. Limited by author's ability,this article is impossible to be a cyclopedia,so author emphasizes particularly on the things which could be involved in his routine work, include some parts which could be paid attention by that persons of the same trade, or some parts which exist difference among different joiner's opinions in the trade. Please give your comments and advice about the article for its mistakes which couldn't be avoided completely.The content of chart ONE involves mainly part of IPTV system, it include Steam media codec and transporting,DRM media encryption,IPTV network deployment and content deliver network(CDN),STB,etc . This description is the base of the following discussion. About the real deployment case, author particularly introduces the system interface between SMG and mainly telecom operators when they run their cooperation over the country. That includes the simple idea of CMC(Content Management Center), IMSP(Internet Media Service Platform), LSP(Local Service Platform). And it particularly emphasized the interface between IMSP and LSP.The chart TWO described the real situation which an IPTV system is deployed in some city. It is the first time that apply H.264 encoding, TS package, multicast in whole network. The accessing network applies the technique of ADSL and double PVC. For this example, author analysis the situation and future about running IPTV system over telecom operators'networks.In IPTV system, CMC(belong to SMG) provides the source of live TV, telecom operators provide the wide-band accessing network which bandwidth due to the actual situation about the network. So author particularly discussed how to calculate the video and audio's bit rate in encoders with the limitation that the access bandwidth is max 2Mbps.Since 2006, many cable operators begin to test their interactive TV system based on HFC. They try to deploy their interactive TV system with double module STB(with an Ethernet module and a cable module at one STB) on HFC. It is different from telecom operators which use adsl as their access network, that cable operators use the HFC as their system's access network. It's a new idea, and we must attach importance to it. Accordingly author discuss the theory that run iptv over HFC, then analyze and evaluate the deployment mode which use the IPQAM in edge POPs.Chart THREE is the keystone of this article. In this chart, author particularly introduces the interface B among the interfaces between IMSP and LSP. The interface B takes charge of content management and content releasing. Author introduces the general situation of interface B1 and mainly operation flow which include VOD content releasing flow, live TV content releasing flow and content management flow.Because SOAP and XML are the mainly protocol in the interface, author explains the reason why he used xml to package the data, and why he used two interactively operations to carry the data. There are four types of SOAP message definition(limited in interface B) being described in this chart. About the package of xml, author introduce the three main elements which are based the root element ADI, they are: Objects,Mappings,Reply,and author gives some examples.At the last of this chart, author makes some experiments about the real platform which is designed based on the interface B of IMSP. By that log information accessed from these experiments, it is displayed that the planning and deployment about IMSP interface B is successful.
