Semantic Web Oriented Ontology Storage Management Technology Research

Ontology is formal specification of shared conceptualization in certain domain. For it is explicit and shared, Ontology can be used as the semantic foundation of communication between different agents. Furthermore, Ontology can help machines understand the semantics in documents. Semantic Web is an important application scenario of Ontology. Internet has an abundance of information, but continual and fast data increasing makes it hard to maintain and access required resources. Semantic Web is a new web concept proposed recently, aimed to make machines do web data search automatically. In this framework, Ontology is used to describe the semantics of web resources, and enable machines do web information management automatically.The huge volume of data is a significant problem of Ontology data management in Semantic Web environment, which asks for some improvements on ontology storage and management. An ontology storage management system should be constructed, which is independent of specifical applications, universal, usable , and has high query efficiency. Based on the research on the ontology in the semantic web and the existing storage modes, the DB storage schema of OWL(Web Ontology Language) and inference method for large scale Ontology instance data are designed, and relevant query processing method to support Ontology query in SPARQL is proposed. Based on above method, a new Ontology storage management system structure is designed, and a prototype system is developed. The detailed experiment analyse of designing storage schema and inference arithmetic reveals that the processes of the storage, the inference and the query of large scale Ontology data are better performance.
