Information communication technology (ICT) has been used more and more widely in education and instruction field. However, the model of ICT application is simple, it is difficult for teachers to manage and control the learning process, especially in the classroom instruction in primary and middle schools. It is necessary to introduce new idea and method to change this status.This dissertation aims at introducing learning design (LD) into the classroom instruction in primary and middle schools. It tries to bring forward a new application model with ICT based on analyzing the status of ICT application at first, then design two experiments to explore the feasibility and effect of the model, at last conclude the experiences and strategies of applying LD in instruction. It includes four parts in this study:Theoretical parsing: This part summarized some basic theories and research findings of LD, introduced LD in aspects of concept, connotation and the process of application, and analyzed the current research and application, the trend of development.Reason analyzing: This part analyzed that it is necessary to introduce LD into ICT application, analyzed the feasibility of integration from three aspects: environment, basic theory and the feature and advantage of LD.Model construction: This part constructed the model of application with ICT based on LD. It includes three frameworks: design framework, technology framework and implement framework. This model explores how to apply LD into actual instruction in primary and middle schools concretely.Practice verifying: This part mainly consisted of two issues: designing experiment and carrying out experiment. It presented detailedly the design elements, the developing process of learning materials, the process and outcome of experiment. At last according to the data of experiment, this part analyzed various feedbacks to give evaluation and explanation on the model elaborated in the third part.Main viewpoints of this research and the work it did include:Introducing LD in aspects of concept, connotation and the process of implement, concluding the status of research and application, the trend of development;Constructing a new ICT application model based on learning design, the designed model can be viewed as a universal and general method to improve the effectiveness of ICT application. It is appropriate to any subject, any instruction and learning theoretically;Deciding the technology route of this research based on exploring and choosing the current LD platforms. According to the route, We designed and developed several UOLs according to the content of science course in grade 7, 8 ;Practicing the well-developed UOLs into classroom instruction in junior high school, carrying out two comparative experiments for four months. The outcome of experiments shows that it is welcome for students to use the model in actual instruction. Learning design is feasible and effective as an important method in science instruction; it can not only promote the motivation and interesting of learning, but also improve the students' marks and learning capability in some extent;The outcome of experiments and investigation and consultation with teachers and students shows that the feasibility and practicability of the LD model designed in this research is comparatively good, but it is necessary to improve this model according to opinion and suggestions from teachers and students. Only by doing this can anticipated function and goals of the model are likely to be realized to more extent.The main value of this research is: to offer an alternative to solve some problems that exist in current ICT application model; to provide a guidance and reference for teachers and students in primary and middle school to practice LD in future.
